LTG AEROB filtration system for biomass power plant in the netherlands
29.04.2010
Alternative energy sources are subsidized by many countries and are considered to be a sure future trend. In so-called biomass power plants, energy is mostly generated from biomass combustion. Handling the material often sets off strong dust emissions, which then must be reduced or eliminated with the help of dust removal solutions and appropriate filter technology.
By delivering a newly developed prefilter system, LTG AEROB® Filtration Solutions GmbH was able to contribute to the success of a biomass power plant in the Netherlands, where energy is generated by burning poultry manure. In the so-called secondary circuit, the pre-heated hopper exhaust air (air volume approx. 130,000 m3/h) is polluted with fibers (chicken feathers, straw) and dust (soil, excrements etc.) and must be purified with a filter system. In addition, this secondary air is almost 100% saturated and contains aggressive gases such as NH3 (ammonia) and SO2 (sulphur dioxide).
Other, previously installed systems were not capable of handling these challenges. Now, the LTG AEROB system has taken over after being put into operation on February 2, 2010. LTG AEROB Filtration Solutions solved the problem with a special prefilter system made from stainless steel which is installed in an isolated filter body.
For the first time, the purging mechanism of the continuously operating system was constructed with a synchronized blowing and suction device. The system’s heating was designed with an eye to energy efficiency: it uses 100% of the waste heat (at least 5-7 KW) generated by the obligatory extraction fan. The entire prefilter system was designed, produced and assembled at LTG AEROB, which is why it took only one day to install it on site in yet another demonstration of the advantages of well-thought-out system
solutions. The production team in Renningen had done an ace job in a matter of days.
